His First Words

Our oldest daughter Bethany's first word was "Hi!" I think I chronicled every word after that, in order. Oldest child, and all that...

Nathan and Hannah's first words are lost in the whirlwind of memories that was life with them, the delight and joy and chaos (and sleeplessness) that was 'how it was' then. Yes, Bethany's babybook is detailed and full. Nathan's has a note or two, and a message from me: "You almost killed me, but I love you more than I can say." And Hannah, I think, has a book at least...

I love them all beyond any description. And now they have a brother.

I will never know his first words on this earth. But I will never forget his first words to me, this morning, on my cell phone.

From an ocean away, I heard a small, sweet voice, say, "Bonjour, Mama!"

Please keep on praying. He is not free yet, but we pray he will be released tomorrow. The battle for his life and freedom is fierce - but God is able, and He is safe to trust.

Praying, warring, resting, trusting.

Bonjour, my precious Dominique...

you are a beautiful writer, Donna-Jean. This post brings me to tears - anticipation of hearing my own son's first words to me in just 10 days or so!
